2062

Tomorrow — April 2nd — marks 2 years since we, The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics, opened our doors to L.A.-area comedy fans!

Now, we wouldn’t have been able to hit the 2 year mark without the guidance of our fearless leader Chris Hardwick and everyone at Nerdist Industries — from Jonah Ray and Matt Mira to General Manager Chris Fealy to podcast producer Katie Levine to the head of The Nerdist Channel Seth Laderman to CEO Peter Levin. We also couldn’t have done it without Emily Gordon, who helped get the ball rolling on this whole comedy venue thing. And of course, we should heap praise on Gaston Dominguez-Letelier, Hisami Dominguez-Letelier, Francisco Dominguez and everyone at Meltdown Comics for welcoming us like members of their own family. Frankly, there is no other place in Los Angeles that has so much nerd culture coursing through its veins like Meltdown.

We  also need to give a BIG THANK YOU to the past and present interns, our former PR Czar Drew Spears, our current PR Czar Christian Spicer; our tech staff Zac McKeever (Supervisor), Kyle Clark, Ed Salzar & Beowulf Jones; house managers Matt Burnside & Aaron Baker; and my co-hort and Program Dir. Danielle Kramer – all of whom have all given up their time for little to no pay to make The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics a force to be reckoned with in the L.A. comedy scene. May they all be rewarded with success beyond their wildest imaginations.

And we most especially thank you, the patrons who believe in the venue and frequent our shows when you can. You are all awesome!

We hope the next few years are just as fruitful as the last two and we hope you have all enjoyed the endeavors of The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics as much as we have. Keep your eyes and ears open for more amazingness that’ll be coming to (or out of) NerdMelt. And don’t forget to check upcoming shows via nerdmeltla.com.

Onward!

Do you guys want to hear some amazing news?!

maori-celebration

“I DO!”

Great! Well, if you haven’t yet listened to today’s episode of The Nerdist Podcast, featuring special guest — and friend of The NerdMelt Showroom — DC Pierson and special guest podcast recorder Kyle Clark, then here it is:

NERDTERNS” WAS JUST PICKED UP FOR A SECOND SEASON BY THE NERDIST CHANNEL!!!!!!!!

Just imagine these guys dancing to Kool and The Gang's "Celebration" -- and that's how we feel!

Just imagine these guys dancing to Kool and The Gang’s “Celebration” — and that’s how we’re feeling RIGHT NOW!

For those who are not-yet-initiated, “NerdTerns” follows the exploits NerdMelt Showroom interns and their put-upon boss. In the first season, they faced bullies, ex-lovers, crazed fans, irate patrons, and a towering menace that threatened to destroy their careers and their burgeoning friendships. The second season promises to be even more epic. Now, here are things that can be confirmed:

-Season 2 — like Season 1 — will consist of 10 episodes.

-Jenny Fine, Kyle Clark, and Mo Fathelbab will return to write for and act in the series. Jenny and Kyle will be bumped up to Co-Executive Producers while Mo will be Executive Producer and showrunner.

-Ben Dunn will also return to the series but there will be a twist regarding his character that Season 1 fans will appreciate. Behind the scenes, Ben will now have a hand in getting the second season off the ground as Co-Producer.

-4 new writers will be brought in, all of whom are the funniest, funnest people you’ll ever want to meet:  Matthew Burnside (Nerdist.com writer and current Nerdist Showroom manager), Natalie Hazen (a brilliant NYU-trained comedy writer), Todd Mole (former member of Team Coco), and John Ungaro (currently one of the best unsung standup in Los Angeles).

Get back to work, prisoners-- err, I mean new writers!

Get back to work, prisoners– err, I mean new writers!

-And of course, “NerdTerns” will be produced through Meltdown 2.0 Productions and The Nerdist Channel, which will air it.

The “NerdTerns” gang are working on confirming a stellar crew and amazing guest stars. Some will be made public, some will be kept as a surprise for current — and hopefully new — fans of the show.

So, keep an ear out for more announcements like: when they’ll start shooting, and when Season 2 will premiere. In the meantime, if you haven’t yet, catch all 10 episodes of Season 1. Or if you already have, do so again!

Thank you all for your wonderful support! Now, here’s a picture of a very happy otter sitting next to a teddy bear:

Comedy legend Eric Idle stop by “Harmontown” tonight, joining Dan Harmon and Jeff Davis in a performance of the show’s brand new theme song. And we have proof…. in pictures!

Now, Eric Idle wasn’t the only big name act to stop by to wish Dan and Company a fond adieu before they embarked on their nationwide tour. Patton Oswalt and Ryan Stiles both made amazing, memorable appearances as well.

But it’s not everyday that a member of Monty Python stops by The Nerdist Showroom at Meltdown Comics, especially one who wrote this:
